About Dr. Katherine Rachlin 

Katherine Rachlin, PhD. is a licensed psychologist and a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City.  She has decades of experience providing individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy and has special expertise in working with people who have concerns regarding gender identity and sexuality. A leader in the field, she has served two terms as a member of the board of directors of The World Professional Association for Transgender Health. As a prominent senior gender specialist and sex therapist, Dr. Rachlin has presented at national and international conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of gender and sexuality concerns.

Dr. Rachlin holds a doctorate in Applied Psychology, a Postdoctoral Specialization in Clinical Psychology, and is a Diplomat of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. With this background, she has combined her skills as a researcher with her interest in helping people fulfill their potential. She received her clinical training at Teacher's College, Columbia University where she studied an insight-oriented psychodynamic approach. Over time she has learned to integrate that orientation with more practical, interactive, and solution-focused techniques. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain personal growth.

Cochair of the task force to launch the United States Professional Association for Transgender Health (USPATH) 2016-2018.

Cofounder and Co-chair of the WPATH Graduate Student Initiative and Annual Research Symposium 2011-2017.
